Here's how to navigate through the game
First, key in the Game Code and your details.
We start by creating a character.
Customize each of your “Smarts”.
Choose which bonus you will get throughout the game.
Now, choose 2 Career Anchors for your character.
Next, choose 5 Values to determine how happy you are in the game.
The game is played in rounds.
At the start of each round, you’ll get a Life Card.
And you’ll also get living expenses deducted.
Let’s see what you can do in this new world.
You can go to school, from Primary School to University.
Start test and score above stated percentage to pass your education.
Starts gaining skills after graduating from Polytechnic and University.
Now, let’s see if you can find a job.
Select sector from the drop down menu.
You do not have enough skills yet.
Let’s go to the Career Centre.
Select the sector and click on your desired job to find out missing skills.
It looks like she’s missing a skill.
You can upskill here to develop your skills.
Select sector to upskill.

- Start living your life in the game! Find a job, travel, buy stuff! Manage your energy, money, love and happiness wisely!
When is the game happening?
- The nationwide career game will have 6 rounds, 1 day per round.
- Round 1: 4 Dec (Sun), 5pm to 8pm
- Round 2: 5 Dec (Mon), 8am to 8pm
- Round 3: 6 Dec (Tue), 8am to 8pm
- Round 4: 7 Dec (Wed), 8am to 8pm
- Round 5: 8 Dec (Thu), 8am to 8pm
- Round 6: 9 Dec (Fri), 8am to 8pm

TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS
1: I can't log in to the game
- Try clicking the “Play to Win” button above
- Wrong URL: Check that the URL is correct with no typos: thecareersim.com
- If it’s still giving you issues on your phone, try playing it on your friend’s phone, on a tablet or laptop.
- For optimal performance, we recommend using Chrome to play the game.
2: Why can’t I start playing the game?
- The game only begins at 5pm on 4 Dec.
- Game rounds are only open every day (5-9 Dec) from 8am to 8pm.
3: The game is unresponsive
- Wait for a few more seconds for the page to load (data signal might be weak).
- Click the “Refresh” button on the browser. Don’t click the “Back” button as it won’t work.
- If there is still no response, close the current tab. Open a new tab, go to thecareersim.com and re-login. Don’t worry, your current progress will be saved!
4: I can't take any more actions

3: If the game is unresponsive, check Problem 3 above.
5: I am facing issues creating my character
- Character Name: Check your name to fix typos or offensive words and try again.
- Smarts: You must assign ALL 50 points before you can click “Next”. Click on each icon to see a short description of the smarts and the + or – signs to assign points.
- Career Anchors and Values: You may deselect by clicking on an already selected option.
- Review Character: You can review and edit your character after you have gone through all sections.
- Confirm Character: Click “Confirm” on the Review Character page at the end. Once you click confirm, you cannot change any of your characteristics during the game.

What happens if I run out of energy?
- Just like we only have 24/7 a week, you only have a limited amount of energy per round.
- Don’t worry, you’ll get more energy tomorrow when the next round starts at 8am.

- Yes, your energy will be carried over!
Education
Which school should I attend?
- This is your life, you get to decide!
Which education levels offer skills for job sectors?
- ITE, Polytechnic and University
How do I know if I am eligible for the education level?
- You will see if you are eligible for the education level if it is in green or blue.
- If you are not eligible for the next education level, you might need to attempt a higher score in the previous level.
Can I attempt the same education level (e.g. Polytechnic) to get a higher score?
- Yes, you can.
Can I take multiple degrees in the same education level (e.g. 2 Bachelor’s Degrees in University)?
- Yes, you can.
Work
I already have a certificate and skills. Why can’t I get a job?
- Check the Career Center carefully to see which exact skills you’re missing for your desired job. Then, upskill in Continuing Education.
I have a job. Why am I not getting paid?
- You have to work to get paid. Click “Continue Working”, select a skill to develop, and answer a question to work.
Why am I not getting promoted?
- You will also need work experience, which is not shown in the Career Centre.
- Check the Career Centre carefully to see which specific skills you’re missing for your desired job. Then, upskill in Continuing Education or at work.
- Keep working at your current job and you will eventually be promoted when you have reached the required skills level.
How can I change my job?
- You can click “Change Job” at the bottom of the work menu.
- Then, you can try applying for other jobs.
- You will keep your original job until you accept another job offer.
What happens when I quit my job?
- When you click “Quit Job”, you will leave your job and will no longer be able to continue working unless you apply for another job and accept a job offer.
Why was I fired?
- You may have been fired after failing at your job 3 times (i.e. answering questions incorrectly).
- You may have been fired due to economic conditions in Singaland.
How can I be happy at work?
- When accepting a job offer, try looking for one that positively matches at least 1 of your values. The matching value will be highlighted in green.
Skills
I already have a certificate and skills. Why can’t I get a job?
- Check the Career Center carefully to see which exact skills you’re missing for your desired job. Then, upskill in Continuing Education.
Where can I get skills?
- You can get a set of skills in the Education menu, when you graduate from either ITE, Polytechnic or University.
- You can also increase individual skills by going to the Continuing Education menu.
How do I know which skills I will need for a job?
- Go to the Work menu, click on “Career Centre”, click on your desired job and click on “Check Skills Gap”.
- Check carefully to see which exact skills you need for the job.
- If the bar for that skill is not green, you have to increase that skill.
What are the green, red and grey indications next to my skills?
- Good eye, these are your “smart” multipliers!
- Each skill is linked to a particular “smart” (which you assigned points to when you created your character)
- Green means you gain this skill on a higher level than the average person, red means the opposite. Grey means you gain it on an average level.
Happiness or Satisfaction
How do I increase my happiness?
- Manage your Health, Love and Play well on your Life Dashboard! Play mini-games to maintain and increase your Health, Love and Play levels.
- Remember to maintain them as they get deducted a few times each day!
- To increase your Work satisfaction, find a Job/Company that matches with your values. When finding a job, you will see it highlighted in green if it matches, or red if it doesn’t match.
Will I be happier if I buy more things?
- In the game, your satisfaction level does not increase significantly when you purchase possessions.
- However, you may get rewards for your purchases which might increase your satisfaction by a few points.
- To increase your happiness, manage your Life Dashboard well! You can find it on the heart icon on the menu.

- Different bonus codes give you different game perks. Players have an equal chance of receiving money, energy, happiness, items and skills.

- You can key it in on your homepage (house icon).

- Get as many friends as you can to use it and you might win a LUMOS Projector!
How do I obtain more bonus codes?
- Head down to Somerset Belt and look for the Play Away posters on the Bonus Code map!

How many times can I use a bonus code?
- Each bonus and referral code can only be used once per player.
