The Inaugural Empower Awards 2022
Shines a spotlight on exemplary career practitioners, mentors and companies contributing to Singapore’s workforce
Outstanding career practitioners, mentors and companies were honoured for their efforts in contributing to a more sustainable and progressive workforce at the Empower Awards 2022 Ceremony at Somerset Youth Park.
Singapore’s People and Career Development Association (PCDA) and Avid Adventures organised the inaugural Empower Awards to recognise individuals and companies that contribute to a more sustainable and progressive workforce.
Launched in October 2022, Empower Awards saw the participation of various organisations including higher learning institutions, social enterprises and MNCs.
Its panel of judges included Mr Alvin Aloysius Goh (MSHRI, MCIPD, IHRP-SP) from Singapore Human Resources Institute (SHRI), Professor Hoon Hian Teck from Singapore Management University, Ms Charlotte George from PCDA People and Career Development Association and Jacintha Phua from WITGRITFIT – by Avid Adventures.
Exemplary nominations were recognised through four categories: Best Career Development Programme, Best Company for Early Jobbers, Best Mentor and Best Career Practitioner.

On the 10th of December, the winners of the Empower Awards for the four categories were announced in conjunction with Play Away: Nationwide Career Game.
Empower Award 2022 Winners
Best Career Development Programme Winner, Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) & Young NTUC (YNTUC) brought home the award for its Industry Mentorship Programme (IMP) for engineering students.
Winner of Best Company for Early Jobbers, Octopus8 Pte Ltd helps youths to understand themselves and forge successful career paths through structured mentorship, workplace guidance, active discussions and more.
Best Career Practitioner, Charles Chee has worked with over 1,500 individuals in his 16 years within the industry. He believes that professional coaching can help people explore their dream careers through identifying blind spots and building self-awareness.
Last but not least, the winner of Best Mentor, Samuel Wee, aspires to elevate leadership, maximise human capital, be a catalyst for personal learning and growth by empowering people to champion change in themselves and their organisations.
PCDA Executive Member Charlotte George said, “Cultivating an environment of empowerment is vital to the growth and wellbeing of employees. This encourages innovation in career planning and ownership in career development for both the individual and the organisation.”
PCDA impacts different sectors of Singapore’s society through career development advocacy and interventions. In honour of their contributions, all winners were awarded exclusive membership to PCDA.
